DOA On TV Project Hail Mary, Enola Holmes 3, Independence Day (1996 Film)

Project Hail Mary (Prime)

Based on Any Weir's novel of the same name, this is a reasonably faithful adaptation.  The book of course is more detailed about Ryland Grace's dilemma of finding himself alone in space with no piloting or astronaut training.

He's a microbiologist who has been happily teaching middle school.  When he's swept away from home to help solve a solar catastrophe, he has no clue the fate of the world will rest in his hands.  Or that the trip to a far away star is a one way trip, as there's no fuel for a return to earth.  He must find out why only one sun has not been attacked by something called astrophage and send that info home.

Great for those who love science, lots of humor for all ages.  An unusual companion Grace names Rocky who is trying to save his world too helps save the day.

Enola Holmes 3 (Netflix)

Millie Bobbie Brown returns as an excellent Enola Holmes.  She's on Malta to marry her best friend Tewkesbury.  Unfortunately, she must leave him at the altar when she hears her brother Sherlock has disappeared, and that he's likely been kidnapped.

Who could overpower Holmes?  Is Enola up to the task of finding him before it's too late?

We have more of Enola's mother Eudoria in this film, and I love the character.  She's a lawless, perhaps insane version of her children.  She and her explosives come in handy though!

Sherlock appears little, and says little when he is on screen.  A bit disappointing as I like this version of Sherlock.

Independence Day  (Disney Hulu)

On July 4th I re-watched the film Independence Day for the umpteenth time.

What a great movie start to finish.  There are so many great characters, even those who appear briefly.  The action never stops.  I keep hoping the President's wife will make it.

I loved, loved hearing President Whitmore's rallying Independence Day speech.  Sniff.  It still inspires.
