DOA On TV Star Trek Strange New Worlds and Alias

Star Trek Strange New Worlds "Off Hours"

If it were that sort of show, Off Hours would be a disaster of the week type episode.   The Enterprise is sucked into a slipstream worm hole that will cause the ship to accelerate to a point beyond warp speed, that would, by hour's end, disintegrate the Enterprise.

Of course most systems are down and staff are isolated in various pockets of the ship trying to survive.

The prominent pair stuck together are Nurse Chapel and Dr. M'Benga.  When the ship enters the wormhole a lab table crushes M'Benga against a column, almost cutting him in half.  He can't feel his legs, but otherwise he seems stunned rather than dying, which he is.  It's up to Chapel to find a way to save her old friend, and she will do anything to accomplish the impossible.

Alias Pilot

Alias aired from 2001 to 2006.  Now on Hulu, it features Jennifer Garner as a college student with a secret life as a spy.  Sydney Bristow carries on both lives with confidence and fearlessness.  She's highly intelligent, but can really fight and defend herself.  Seeing her knock out one bad guy after another with a kick to the head is pretty great.

In her college life, she's going to get married. She makes the mistake of telling her fiance about her secret life, and then, spoiler, he'd dead, killed in a very messy manor.

After that, she rebels, or tries to rebel against her employers.   She hasn't the confidence she once has in the pilot as she can't function with her grief and anger and hatred towards her employers for killing the man she loves.

I've never watched the show before and have only seen Garner in commercials  (and a Marvel movie I can't think of).   She's incredible in this show.  It's well worth continuing to watch it.
