DOA On TV : Emily In Paris Season Five

 

Emily in Paris returned this week with a ten episode season five. It took place largely in Rome and it's surrounding countryside, then came back to Paris.

I'm writing this in my Fallout T-shirt and sweats, so we know the fashions offered in the show were never something I'd aspire to.  It has always been fun to see the confections though.  Most of the offering in Rome were extremely intense patterned pant suits.  Those were the things that caught my eye.

 

Emily has a promising new job running the Rome office of Agence Grateau, but soon Sylvie and Julien and Luc are there too, and she isn't the boss after all.   

Emily's romance with Marcello which was fun to watch. They made a good couple in so many ways.  If he had been able to stay in Paris, it may have worked for them.

Everything falls apart in Rome and the show is back in Paris for the last three episodes.  Despite all of the good things in the Rome episodes, it seemed everyone was treading water a bit, and going in circles.  I kept hoping I was on the last episode, and that's never happened before.

Once back in Paris, Emily came alive, and so did the show.   I've mixed feelings about the season, but will be right there if there's a season six.

DOA On TV September 2024

 

It used to be that the fall TV season was a huge time for new television show premieres on TV.  There were more new shows than you could watch.  Game shows and Reality Tv seem to dominates traditional TV these days.

Here’s my list of shows to watch in September.  A couple of them began in August but are releasing episodes weekly through September.

 

Only Murders in the Bulding (Hulu)  10 episodes began August 27

 

 Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Prime Video)  8 episodes Beginning August 29 (Three episodes were released August 29, then they are once a week)

Emily In Paris Part 2 (Netflix)  5 episodes beginning September 12.

Moonflower Murders (PBS)   6 episodes beginning September 15

Survivor (CBS)  13 episodes beginning September 18 

 

 

Matlock (CBS)  September 22 Premier, then moves to October

Murder In A Small Town  (Fox)   9 episodes begins September 24

 

 

Emily in Paris (Netflix)

 If you're in the mood for a breezy romantic comedy, Emily in Paris is perfect.  The series follows a young marketing executive from Chicago, Emily Cooper, as she is sent to spend a year in Paris helping the long established firm Savoir learn to do things the American way.

Emily is irrepressible.  She isn't well received in the offices of Savoir. It's partly because they hate that they've been bought out, and partly because Emily and her ideas go counter to the way business has been done.

Even in the face of a hostile boss and co-workers Emily remains cheerful, and finds ways to make her ideas work. It's all pure comedy, so there as many disasters as there are successes.

Outside of the office, Emily manages to make friends and find lovers aplenty.

Her personal fashion choices are fantastic, and not a soul could wear them but her.  They're such fun.

The series is a light, airy celebration of Paris, love, friendship, and good food.

There are currently two seasons available, with a third and fourth season just ordered.
