Blog Updates August 22, 2021

 

 

I've gone through all of the various blog rolls and removed any which haven't had posts in 6 months or more.

My Image Generators List has had all of the old, no longer live links removed and a few new are added.

More blogs will be added from my DOA and Merlyn sites because it's so much nicer to see the little snippets blogger provides, and so you know what the latest post is about.  You can also see the most up to date posts at the top.

I will likely make most of the Link Lists from DOA 2.0 available here too.  In that regard, Merlyn stands on its own. For my Merlyn readers, that blog began in 2013, and is in no danger of running out of media space.

Monthly WrapUp

I've been enjoying writing my posts here lately.  Looking at my post count for the year, it stands at a whopping twenty.  This will be 21!

Pretty much as soon as I challenged myself to writing 8 posts a month to easily get to 100 posts for the year, I stopped writing.  Too odd.  I guess I can't fool me into anything.

This month has been about the garden.  There are a few flaws, but I have loved my garden this season.

I have other topics in mind but they haven't made it to the page yet.   I am hoping to write some up regularly so I'm not doing my November post challenge to jam in a year's worth of writing into a month or so.   That's the old me.


I've moved my blog rolls around.  They're all still there, just rearranged as to what's on top.

My Podcast list is still here, it's just waaaaaay down at the bottom.  I added in quite a few new ones, particularly fiction.   I haven't had a chance to listen to them all, I'm sort of bookmarking them for myself.  And for you, of course.

Blog Updates

I always like the idea of having post topics for some of the days of the week all set in virtual stone, but I am too daydreamy and floaty to accomplish it. 

Yet, I have been really good about having a crossword or word find here, and my Rebus's on Merlyn, so maybe there is hope.

I'm adopting two common ones that I think I can manage.


Wordless Wednesday which is just pictures, no words.   This fits nicely with my love of images and my inability to ever learn to type with more than two fingers and the occasional thumb.

Five Things Friday  appears to be five interesting or good things which happened during the current week.  I'm the list maker of your dreams, so I think I can do that one too. 

The other days of the week are still free for my insanely fascinating random topics.

I have been finding really great new blogs for the blogrolls in all categories.  Check there often for wonderful posts by creative beings.

Sitemeter Redirect

I've been seeing lots of re-directs and problems with My Space popping up as I read blogs on my blog roll.  

I looked up one of the redirect sites this morning and found that Sitemeter and its pop up pal My Space have been purchased by some Ad Spammy company.

Removing Sitemeter stopped the redirects immediately.  If you click on a link on your blog and see a strange address in the address line before getting to your site, take that puppy down.

New Craft Blogs Added

I am having such fun with my crochet and immersion in crafts that I am made additionally happy by reading the blogs on my Craft Blogs List daily.  I keep finding new and charming inspirations.  You'll note I moved the Craft Blogs up the list on the sidebar so you too can easily find and be charmed by these creative folk.

Blog List Cheerily Updated

Ta da. I now have Books/Authors, Cooking/Baking, Gardening and Craft Blog sections. I cleverly delineated between them by adding nice images to lead the sections.

As always, I enjoy blogs with a nice conversational writing style accompanied as needed by charming pictures.  Just the sort of thing you find on DOA!  

Ms. Reorganization

As you may note, I'm re-doing my blog list. 

I'm categorizing them as Books, Baking, Gardening and Diversions.  The process is slow going. I am going to try to include the snippets from the book blogs, my largest category.  Sometimes Blogger resents having too many of those on your list and they just don't display them. Tricksy Blogger.

Removing all blogs not updated in over two months.  Except, a few garden blogs that really only write during the Season.  They get to stay for the nonce.  Reassessing some of the choices that I just don't read so poof.   It will be all the more interesting when I'm done.

Note:  I wrote all my blog names in Word then just poofed the blog roll.  I couldn't find some of the blogs, ratski. 

Book blogs are in for the nonce.

Edit: Ok, I added a bunch more. I was disappointed to find many favorite authors don't have blogs, or haven't updated them (in a couple of years), or Blogger won't accept their address as a "feed".  Stinkers.

Housekeeping

I removed a few long-not-updated blogs from the roll and have some on my list to add.  I pondered breaking the blogs up into categories such as Books and Authors, Cooking and Baking. So inspiring!  It's a putzy thing to do though.  Will contemplate.

Added my Twitter feed below the blog roll and moved a few other things around. I actually don't Tweet much but am on a temporary roll since my husband and I are doing "Tweet Wars" this week.

Revitalized my "How to do clever things" list formerly the 23 things list.  Since they left me behind in the virtual dust with their new Thing (I couldn't do it not being affiliated with a library anymore) I thought I'd best (sniff) leave them behind as well.

Need to freshen the place up big time.  Maybe more beagle pictures would do it.

Or... more of my baking experiments.  I tried an oven baked stew last week that was just monstrous.  Couldn't eat more than a bite or two. That bad.  Luckily for you I didn't photograph it. (Shudder).
