A salary of eighteen hundred dollars a year and the title of “Mr. Secretary,” gave to the great position an air of wild and imposing grandeur. I was young and ignorant, and I envied my brother. I coveted his distinction and his financial splendor, but particularly and especially the long, strange journey he was going to make, and the curious new world he was going to explore. Sunday Puzzles: A Cryptogram for February 27, 2022

 Happy week two in our puzzle rotation for Sunday mornings.  This week we have a longish cryptogram. I got carried away. DOA's Answer Key for the Cryptogram of November 14, 2021

 I hope you enjoyed the puzzle and the new Puzzle Maker.  The quote is from the Curse of Edwin Grange by James G. Tipton, appearing in the November/December 2021 issue of Alfred Hitchcock's Magazine.  It's a tale of Dr. Watson after he's lost his wife and his friend Sherlock.

Sunday Puzzles: A Cryptogram for November 14, 2021

 I hope you're doing well.  My old puzzle makers seem to be having problems one by one.  The "Brainfood" Cryptogram Maker I've used forever seems to be infected with a virus.  I don't know if it will be repaired.  The show must go on!

To the rescue this week, Discovery Education's revamped site with Answer Keys (!) has a Cryptogram Maker as well as many other things.

Their Puzzle looks a bit different, but the idea is the same, letters are randomly replaced by others, and you work how how it should all look.

You may like their form even more than the old one as it has a spot for the alphabet up top so you can keep track nicely as you go along.

Lastly, I used a set of lines with a date, 1894.  It is in the second line and is raised up a bit, but that's all it is. Click to enlarge.
