Always my favorite subject. Because I was so quiet, I was placed in a low reading group in elementary school. Once we began reading, and reading aloud, however, I was placed in the top group. Don't underestimate the quiet ones.
Perhaps these were plot cliches in 1959, but here in 2021, I think many of these plot ideas are fun twists.

Of the five they list, two would be on my personal favorites list. The Shining and The Stand. Neither have been well adapted for film or television, in my opinion. The novels themselves are great, intense, scary books.

Ready for some mysteries within a Mystery? Murder and Mayhem presents murders that happen while characters are involved in solving other murders or crimes. I'm glad to see Maureen Johnson's Truly Devious on the list. In it, a teen working to solve an old murder is suddenly seeing current day murders occur around her, somehow tied to the past.
