Five Things Friday 5/29/26

Welcome back to Five Things Friday. I’ve been pootling around in Facebook again, which means I take screenshots of everything that interests me.  I think I captioned the Things in the past but I’m guessing no one ever read those captions so I’ll just let the Things speak for themselves.

Five Things Friday February 21, 2025

What a long, dreadful February. How can a short month be so annoying? Good thing Fridays always come, and the weekend beckons.

This one took me a moment.  Brain is gone.

Art is always a balm, unless it’s surrealistic and a tiny bit disturbing.

Then again, spring, birdhouses and flowers.

Also, relax and enjoy the pink paper dolls. Nothing could be more soothing.

Attention, shoppers! Here’s a guide for the bargain hunter in you.

Five Things Friday January 31, 2025

It’s the last day of an icky January. Bad, Bad January! February is all Valentines, repotting of houseplants as they begin new growth, and working on those bread making, crochet, sewing and embroidery skills. Sounds pleasant, right?

One:  Game Day! Mr. DOA and I have been playing Scrabble for decades.  I, as a lifelong reader and lover of words have a much better vocabulary than he does. He wins more often than not, anyway, because he is a fiend for winning any game. He plots. He ponders. He strategizes. I just want to lay down nice words.

Two: I love this required kindergarten skill set for the tinies from 1954. All very good, doable skills.

Three:  Speaking of the garden…

Four: It’s back to the fifties week! How about these complaints from 1957 about the current state of society and culture.

Five: Tomorrow’s Saturday Puzzle is a Rebus. Here’s a short one to tide you over.

Five Things Friday January 10, 2025

A dusting of snow, but we could use a foot or so as open winters are hard on gardens.

One:  I love trains and would love to go across country to the coast.

Two:  Here’s why we love cats—they’re so considerate.

Three:  Then again…

Four:  Some days I just pull out the biggest mug I have for my coffee. I haven’t used a five gallon bucket, but doesn’t it look good, though?

Five: Shape up or ship out, as they used to say.

Five Things Friday December 13, 2024

It’s so cold I wish I could photoshop a picture of me encased in carbonate to make my point. If you don’t know the reference, tsk.

One: I didn’t look at the responses for this one, but Hey Jude, that awful never ending song, is what leaps to mind.

Two: Just keep on going, little space people.

Three: I’d like keep cake and bread flour on hand, but I don’t use them often enough.

Four: This is from a list of stocking stuffers for men. My kid is getting one if I find it.

Five:  Another “mysteries of the English language” moment.
