Star Trek Picard: Monsters

After watching this episode, always contemplating my posts, I thought, I wonder if I can find a good picture of a Hamster on A Wheel.

Picard, in his dashing suit from the gala, is being interviewed by a Star Fleet Doctor/Psychologist about why he keeps people at arms length.  I confess I'm not a fan of this plot line for the season. Some people are just reserved. It's OK.

In any case, that interview gets increasingly personal and confrontational and Picard rightly doesn't like it.

Then we enter Picard's mind with Talinn and she helps fend off the monsters his child self sees attacking his beloved mother and himself.

It turns out Picard's mother struggled with mental illness (which certainly should have been treated rather than locking her away at chateau Picard).  Picard's father was not the monster he is remembered to have been at all.

These revelations and an adult to help his child self get Picard unstuck from this trauma.  He's able to come around and is ready to tackle Q.

Off to see Guinan once more. Only to be arrested by a cop who has footage of Picard beaming in.  This is a crime?  Who knows where the next episode goes, with only a few left to set time right and defeat Q.
