I used to use Giardelli's Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa mix in my coffee (yes, yes I did) until they stopped selling the nice big containers. I knew there were recipes for making your own cocoa so I looked at a few, and tried this one and always have a batch at the ready. It makes a nice gift too.
I think the original calls for a dash of Cayenne Pepper (no, not for me). They also want you to put it into your food processor to make it all smooth. I don't do that either. I just toss everything in a really big bowl and whisk it till nice and smoothly combined.
I use large Mason Jars for storage.
The mini chips sometimes remain in the bottom of your cup begging to be scooped up with a spoon while they're nice and melted.
2 cups Powdered Sugar
1 cup Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa
1 tsp Kosher Salt
2 tsp cornstarch
3 cups Carnation Nonfat Dry Milk
1 cup Nestle Mini- Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Adapted from a recipe on The Yummy Life (which I would link to but I got some pretty annoying pop ups there, so, just search Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa Mix and The Yummy Life and voila, the original recipe).
