Gardening is more fun if you've got a good set of tools, just as in every craft. It's hard to find a well made variety of tools at big box stores and hardware stores. They're just not attuned to the gardener, I think.
Try these sources to make things easier for yourself:
Lee Valley Tools https://www.leevalley.com/en-us/garden
Red Pig Garden Tools https://www.redpigtools.com/
Smith & Hawken
I was going to list Smith & Hawken, once I got the name Smith and Wesson out of my head. I'd never visited one of their stores, but knew I should. I waited too long, as they apparently closed all of their stores in 2009. There's a really good article from Garden Rant on the closing:
Smith & Hawken is Dead.
Long Live Smith & Hawken.
Burpee https://www.burpee.com/gardening-supplies/tools-totes-gloves/
Burpee has a nice variety of garden tools. Most are reasonably priced, but of course I want the Black Walnut Hand forged ones.
