I love books that have chapter titles. They're sort of a delicious part of the plot, often.
I buy hardcovers whenever I can so there's the flyleaf to read. And I do read it. Even on a paperback I like to see a summary. Book blurbs seem overdone, these days. They almost seem generic, no matter who the quote is from.
Every book that could have a map, should have a map.
I like a cast of characters page. Place names and pronunciations, not so much.
Books in series with the number on the spine. Yeeesssssss.
Table of contents, meh.
It's time for the Agatha Award nominations for traditional mysteries.

The books I've read from the nominees are Cold Blooded Myrtle by Elizabeth C Bunce and Enola Holmes and the Black Barouche by Nancy Springer. I have likely read the short stories that are from Alfred Hitchcock's and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazines. Good luck to everyone!
From Parade Magazine, a list of 110 Thriller, Crime and Suspense novels that they think are the best of all time. It's quite a varied list, with some surprise entrants.

From Modern Mrs Darcy, 20 Book to Screen adaptations coming soon. If you're curious about a book you haven't read, these are almost always a good introduction to the stories. Then you can read the book :)

Terry Brooks on that one book that just won't let itself be written.
